Dorado
Lucas Dorado was born in Biel/Bienne (Switzerland) and got to know and play Latin American rhythms as a young child through his father.
After studying drums & percussion, he finally focused exclusively on vibraphone.
He has been active since 2012 and has performed in various countries in Europe, South America and Africa. He already played in internationally renowned venues such as the Berlin Philharmonic, New Morning in Paris and Nja’Nja M’ndzang Cameroon. He can be heard on several jazz/latin/pop albums such as Parcels (Because Music 2018), Viaje – Trio Dorado (L’Horizon Violet Paris 2023) or MetaMadera (Sound Surveyor 2024).
After studies in Berlin, Lausanne (Switzerland) and Copenhagen, he got a scholarship in 2022 to create his new project “El Sueño” with professional musicians living in France. Since then, he lives and works in Paris.
He won the 1st prize in the first Jazz-Vibraphone Competition 2017 in Pescara (Italy) and became a Yamaha endorser one year later. In 2019, he published his first solo vibraphone book Nuevos Ritmos and since 2021 he’s officially endorsing Pearl Drums representing the mallet Station. He won the public prize at the Tonnerre de Jazz Competition 2024 in France with his band El Sueño.
“El Sueño” is the musical branching of two worlds and their stories. Lucas Dorado feels at home in several cultures due to his origins (Argentina & Switzerland). In his music, he harmonizes Argentinean folklore with new sounds taken from the Jazz world.
